Seedway is headquartered in Hall, New York with branches in Pennsylvania, Florida, Vermont, Maine, and New York. Seedway has about 220 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 15,000 customers. The cooperative does business in farm, vegetable, and turf seed. Seedway is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
The purpose for this position is to perform warehouse functions to receive, store, package and ship vegetable/flower products.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Process packages through UPS System
Order picking and packing
Assemble Less Than Truck Load orders from start to finish
Pull seed for work orders and packaging departments
Label and package vegetable seed
Set up and assemble vegetable seed assortments
Stock racks and retrieve products for order pickers
Utilize E1 computer system daily
Operates necessary machinery such as forklifts, etc.
Operate machine to weigh product and close bag, place in proper box, and palletize
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Produce labels and re-tag vegetable and flower seed containers
Process germ labels on the computer
Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse
Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct andCorporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOTpolicies and procedures, as they apply.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a high school diploma or the equivalent thereof, and 1 or more years of retail related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of basic business principals of inventory management, technology and mechanics.
Demonstrates essential abilities including basic computer skills, business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
Frequently required to lift 51-70 lbs as needed.
Frequently exposed to working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Will be required to work hours other than those considered “normal” to meet seasonal demands.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
